  • Compelling evidence that CASA programs effectively mitigate the adverse effects of abuse and neglect within the child welfare system. This research supports the case for sustainable funding and program expansion to serve more vulnerable children across West Virginia’s foster care system.

  • The National CASA/GAL Association for Children is committed to using fact-based knowledge. This is a summary of independent academic studies evaluating the effectiveness of best-interest advocacy and the CASA/GAL network.

  • Study reveals positive results for young people who were appointed a CASA volunteer:
    • Spent less time in an Out of Home Placement (OOHP);
    • Were less likely to re-enter OOHP following discharge;
    • Were more likely to enter a permanent placement; and
    • Were more likely to be reunified with family.

  • A simplified cost-benefit analysis of the CASA program in Nebraska. In summary, each dollar invested in the Nebraska CASA Association has a return of approximately $6.
