About Us

Shanna provides executive leadership for the statewide CASA network, advancing organizational strategy, program growth, partnerships, and initiatives that ultimately strengthen advocacy for children. She represents WV CASA on statewide committees, boards, and collaborative workgroups and serves as a member of the National CASA/GAL Association’s State Leadership Council.

Shanna offers extensive nonprofit leadership experience spanning strategic planning, partnership development, organizational operations, and grants management. Shanna earned undergraduate degrees in International Trade and Business Administration. She holds an Executive Certificate in Children’s Law and Policy from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Her international experience includes studying abroad in Central America, earning a teaching certification in Italy, and working in the governmental sector in Spain.

Shanna’s professional commitment to child welfare is informed by her experience as a non-adoptive foster parent. She and her husband opened their home to children in foster care in 2018, supporting only one family at a time with a particular focus on keeping sibling groups together. In addition to her work with WV CASA, Shanna serves in leadership and advisory capacities with organizations and initiatives focused on strengthening systems and practices that improve outcomes for children and families.

Ashley Hatfield joined WV CASA in 2026, a role that represents a true career dream rooted in her passion for children. She brings a strong background in nonprofit leadership, workforce development, and community engagement.

Most recently, she served as the Eastern Kentucky Hospital TPM® Pipeline Manager with the Kentucky Chamber Foundation’s Workforce Center, where she worked closely with hospitals to attract and retain talent across the region. She takes pride in building relationships and creating opportunities that make a lasting impact on communities.

Ashley also served as the Executive Director of Tourism for the Tug Valley Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, where she led efforts to drive economic growth, support local businesses, and bring new energy to the region through events and partnerships. She has always believed that strong communities are built through connection, collaboration, and a shared vision for the future.

A proud Appalachian native, Ashley made the decision to bring her family back home to Mingo County because she believes deeply in the potential of the region she calls home. As a mother of two boys, ages 7 and 16, her work is deeply personal. She is passionate about creating a future where her children, and all children in the community, have access to opportunity, feel supported, and know they have a place to call home.
