Become a CASA Volunteer

CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing a variety of experiences to their work as advocates on behalf of abused and neglected children. There are no special educational or professional requirements, but advocates must be 21 years old.  Volunteers are carefully screened and receive 30 hours of training before being assigned to children. Click here to download the CASA Volunteer Application form (PDF Format).

The CASA volunteer’s primary responsibility is to serve as the “eyes and ears” of the Court, gathering information from the child, his/her biological parents, foster parents, teachers, counselors, etc. and making recommendations to the judge as to what is in the child's best interest.

If you would like more information about becoming a CASA volunteer, please call us at (866) 498-2272.  If you live outside West Virginia, please visit the National CASA Association web site or call (800) 628-3233 to locate a CASA program near you.

Start a CASA Program

Check our list of local CASA programs to see whether there is a program in your county. If you live in a county that does not have a CASA program and are interested in helping to start one, please email or call us at (866) 498-2272.

Become a "Friend of CASA"

West Virginia CASA Association and the local CASA programs are always in need of volunteers who may not be able to be an advocate for a child, but can help with fundraising, event-planning, volunteer recruitment, administrative work, etc.   For more information please email or call us at (866) 498-2272.
